Ashland, VA Mayor Endorses John Suddarth

Ashland, VA — Today, Ashland Mayor Jim Foley announced that he is endorsing John Suddarth as the Democratic nominee for U.S House of Representatives in Virginia’s 1st Congressional District. In his endorsement, Mayor Foley stated:

“As a longtime resident of the Town of Ashland and Hanover County, I have known John for a number of years through his tenure as Chairman of the Hanover County Habitat for Humanity and through his work on the Hanover County Democratic Committee.

John has always been a leader who could get things done. Throughout this primary campaign, John has demonstrated his comprehensive understanding of the issues and articulated his well-thought-out policies to address those issues. His pragmatic ideas are consistent with my own. From health care, to foreign policy, to climate change, to our federal deficit, John has solid solutions that put America, working families, and our environment ahead of special interests. John’s education and training at West Point combined with his experiences as a business executive, small business owner, father, and husband, give John the background and credibility to become an outstanding representative for our district.

Therefore, after thoughtful consideration of the experiences, backgrounds, and ideas of each of the candidates seeking the Democratic nomination for Congress in Virginia’s 1st Congressional District, I am endorsing John Suddarth as the Democratic nominee to defeat the incumbent Republican Rob Wittman in November.

I encourage all Hanover County Democrats and Democrats across the 1st District to join me in supporting John Suddarth as the Democratic nominee to defeat Rob Wittman.”
